Oak Wood

Oak Wood notes are due to the process of aging wine in oak barrels, and for this reason it is a tertiary aroma. This scent must always be gentle and not overwhelm the other aromas.

Interestingly, it is more frequently perceived in young wines. In fact over time this scent blends with others and evolves toward liquorice or vanilla, which are also typical of wines aged in wood barrels.
