Blackberry

Like the black currant, the Blackberry aroma recalls red fruit, but few are able to identify it precisely. It is helpful to smell it in sequence with other red fruits in order to memorize its scent.

This aroma can be found in may Red Wines, and in particular in those produced with Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Nero D’Avola grape varieties from Sicily.

The berry aromas give elegant, sophisticated notes to some Olive Oils. It is not commonly found in oil, but is present in the Cellina di Nardò and Mignola cultivars.
